UnderGround Encounters
The project 'Underground Encounters" has been created during my first years in London. Living in London, the journey on the tube is a significant part of life, people spend sometimes 2 hours or more a day traveling. The crowding during rush hours is immense, dozens of people in an extreme physical proximity, and despite this physical closeness, the strangeness is complete. Everyone are submerged in their life worries, without making eye contact, with very little human interaction.
I found myself fascinated by this closeness of so many people, from different backgrounds, nationalities, different cultural social and economic states, so close to one another and yet so isolated by a barrier of loneliness.
Many great photographers were fascinated by the underground during the years, my work is a homage to those photographers.
