Poetry of Movement

Poetry of Movement is a result of 4 years of dancing, watching and photographing during Contact Improvisation jams in Moving East Centre in London.

I came across Contact Improvisation in 2003 and since then it became an inseparable part of my life.

I enjoy connecting with people through the dance, I found it quite amazing, to loose oneself in the movement, give in to the fleeting moment, feeling the body, the floor, the air, the people dancing with me.
I discovered it as a very engaging and intimate way to connect to myself and to others, to listen, to explore.

We dance, we roll, jump, fall, fly... sometimes fast and exuberant, sometimes slow and still.
I enjoy watching other dancers, the relationships that are created in the moment, different energies flow and fill the room, silent communication; through the body, the skin, the bones.

I was looking for a text that will express my feelings about Contact Improvisation, after a long search I have found a beautiful poem by Caroline Plummer, it really touched me and seemed perfect to go along the photographs. The project carries the name of the poem. The photographs were assembled into a book, available now on www.Blurb.com

Caroline was a dancer and an artist, sadly she died from cancer in 2003. (more information about Caroline’s life and work can be found at www.carolineplummer.org.nz.)
